Company History

 It became apparent to a group of Paramedics working for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service that a growing number of event organisers were seeking Paramedics to provide medical cover for their events. The governing bodies of certain sports and the Health and Safety Executive regarding events were now stipulating that the minimum medical personnel at these events should be a NHS qualified Paramedic. However, finding such a specialist service appeared to be proving difficult for them.

 After much ground work and market research it was indeed seen to be viable to set up a service to supply Paramedic and ambulance cover to private and public events or organisations where this type of cover was either stipulated or considered necessary.

 ProParamedics was formed in October 1999 by John Cunningham, a Paramedic working in the Greater Belfast area for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. ProParamedics is a Limited Company, listed with the Company Registry Office under Company Registration Number - NI 37048.

 ProParamedics provide all levels of medical personnel, from basic first aid personnel, Emergency Medical Technicians and State Registered Paramedics through to fully qualified Doctors, Nurses, or Physiotherapists.

 Proparamedics' ambulances are fully equipped to NHS level, (this includes Manual Defibrillators/Cardiac Monitors, Drugs, Fluid and Giving Sets and Advanced Airway Management Equipment.) Ambulances can provide comfortably for both stretcher and sitting patients.

We have approximately 45 members of all grades of staff that we can call upon to provide cover.  This number is continually increasing as we gather momentum, gain more work, and the demand for this type of service increases dramatically.

 The majority of staff are currently employed full time for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service or NHS Hospital A&E Departments.
