Staff Grades and Training

 Basic First Aid Personnel:

 All FAW’s (First Aider at Work) have undertaken a “ First Aid at Work” course, taught by EMAS registered professionals. They have all achieved a satisfactory standard on this course and gained an EFA recognised certificate.

 Emergency Medical Technician:

 NHS Institute of Health Care Development (IHCD) Ambulance Emergency Medical Technician Certificate. Staff who have achieved this grade have undergone a residential course lasting 10 weeks. In addition to the ten week course, all staff have undertaken an emergency driving course consisting of two weeks instruction. Staff are trained by IHCD Ambulance Driving Instructors assisted by PSNI Traffic Branch Driving Instructors. A non exhaustive list of course contents for medical training will include:

State Registered NHS Paramedics:

 NHS Institute of Health Care Directorate (IHCD) Ambulance Paramedic Certificate. Staff who have achieved this grade have undergone a residential course consisting of a further 10 weeks in addition to their 10 week EMT Certificate. Again, in addition to the course contents of the EMT course, a Paramedic course will include :

 Advanced Trauma Care and Knowledge

Advanced Airway Management

Intubation

Cannulation

Intra Venous (IV) Fluid Replacement

Drug Therapy (Drug List and Protocols as per NHS guidelines, available on request)

Diabetes Recovery Treatment

 Fully Qualified Doctors:

  ProParamedics have secured the services of Dr Audrey McKelvey MB BCh BAO FRCS I.

Dr McKelvey also has to her name Advanced Life Support (ALS), Advanced Trauma & Life Support (ATLS), Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS). She is also a PHTLS Instructor. Dr McKelvey currently works at the Accident & Emergency Department of the Royal Victoria Hospital. Several of Dr McKelveys’ colleagues, all of which have similar qualifications and training, would be willing to cover her post should she be unavailable, or to work along side her should several doctors be required at any one event.

 State Registered A&E Nurses:

 ProParamedics can provide fully qualified nurses who practice from various local hospital A&E Departments. Both male and female staff are registered with ourselves.

 State Registered NHS Physiotherapist:

Our Physio runs his own BUPA registered private practice, and is also a fully qualified masseur.
